2008 Stoller JV Estate Pinot Noir
Proprietors Bill & Cathy Stoller purchased the nearly 400-acre property that is now Stoller Vineyards, which was originally his family’s turkey farm, in 1993 and crafted their inaugural Pinot Noir in 2001. The rest, as they say, is history. Located in the heart of Oregon’s Willamette Valley in the Dundee Hills, Stoller continues to produce world class wines in a stunning setting that features, among other amenities, a panoramic view of Mt. Hood.
I have always been of the opinion that Oregon produces the very best Pinot Noirs in the U.S., and the 2008 Stoller JV Estate is yet another stunning example of that assertion. By the way, the JV refers to Jeunes Vignes, “junior vines,” the younger vines on the estate.
This is a wine that is easy to like. It beguiles with a bouquet of spicy fruits and is soft, supple, and elegant on the palate. Acidity and tannins are held in perfect balance by 13.1% alcohol. And this is a price-friendly wine as well. At $24.99, given this wine’s incredible quality, it is a positive steal.
Oh, gad! And it has a twist-off cap!
Cheers!
